PCHS Participates in 4th Quarter NSED

Pitogo Community High School (PCHS), joined the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's (NDRRMC) 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today – November 14, 2024.

Coordinated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Pitogo, Quezon, the drill aimed to strengthen the school’s earthquake preparedness and enhance the community’s disaster response readiness.

At exactly 2:00 PM, PCHS responded to a signal from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and initiated the nationwide earthquake drill. Teachers, students, and administrative staff participated in the simulation, following the standard earthquake response protocol: "Drop, Cover, and Hold On." This was followed by an organized evacuation, with everyone moving to pre-designated safe areas around the school grounds.

The activity was organized at the initiative of Mrs. Elizabeth E. Ecaro, teacher II and former coordinator of the School DRRMC, who took to the school's group chat (GC) to share the important announcement from the MDRRMO ahead of the drill, urging everyone to take part in the drill and practice the proper earthquake response actions.

Mr. Clinton Jay C. Medina, school principal I, emphasized the seriousness and dangers of natural disasters, acknowledging their potential to cause significant harm and loss of life.

Mr. Mark Anthony Rosas, a current SDRRM coordinator, also shared his views on the significance of the drill.

The drill was part of a nationwide effort to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.

In Pitogo, Quezon, local government units, schools, and businesses joined the national activity, demonstrating the importance of community-wide coordination in times of crisis. #
