PCHS School-based INSET: Refresh Teaching Practices Through Assessment Data
To
address the lowest results in the Electronic Self-Assessment Tool (E-SAT) from
the previous school year, Pitogo Community High School (PCHS) conducted its
first day of the 2024 School-based In-Service Training (INSET) with the theme “Elevating
Educational Excellence: Innovations in Assessment for Empowered Teaching” on January 24, 2025, focusing on the utilization
of Assessment Data in modifying of teaching and learning practices and programs
of teachers.
The School
Planning Team considered it necessary to center the training around this theme
to enhance academic success and elevate teaching strategies. The first day of
the INSET commenced with an in-depth exploration of the topic,
"Revitalizing Academic Success: Enhancing the Utilization of Assessment
Data to Transform Teaching Strategies in Our School."
Distinguished
speakers included Ms. Illiana Joy L. Jaraya, Secondary School Teacher (SST) II,
who discussed the Principles and Theoretical Bases of standard-based assessment
(DO 8, s 2015); Mr. Jomel V. Escamillas, SST I, discussing Practices in
Monitoring and Evaluating Learner's Performance Through Learner Attainment
Data; and Mr. Mar Z. Holanda, SST I, presenting on PPST Module 21 - Utilize
Assessment Data to Inform the Modification of Teaching and Learning Practices
and Programs.
Mrs. Rosario M.
Bulfa, expressing the timeliness and importance of the chosen theme, emphasized
its significance for teachers, students, and the entire school community.
On the other
hand, Mr. Alquin P. Montano Jr., SST III, and Mr. Antonino A. Dagta, SST I,
also engaged in discussions regarding the National Learning Camp and the
school's accomplishments in the recent activities associated with it.
Meanwhile, Mr.
Ronnel I. De Vera, SST III, paved the way for updates on the responsibilities
of the Property Custodian, particularly focusing on the forms that need to be
submitted concerning the school's inventory of equipment and materials.
Dr. Meriam C. Camposano, Public Schools District Supervisor, also visited and
delivered a message on the first day of the INSET. She urged everyone to keep
their passion and enthusiasm for teaching burning bright, emphasizing that it
would yield positive outcomes for the students' future.
Before
concluding the first day of the INSET, teachers shared their best practices
regarding the activities during the Catch-Up Friday, which started on January
12, 2024.
As the training
progresses, the second day of the INSET will shift the focus to the Individual
Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) Mid-Year Review for the teachers,
continuing the obligation of Pitogo Community High School to continuous
improvement in teaching methodologies.
