Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 064, Series of 2025, the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Program in Reading (ARAL-Reading) formally commenced at the onset of the second quarter of School Year 2025–2026. The program aims to provide timely, responsive, and effective support to learners who fall below the expected reading proficiency levels, thereby enabling them to catch up with the grade-level expectations set by the Department of Education (DepEd). Through structured and focused interventions, the program ensures that learners receive the necessary guidance to strengthen their literacy skills and enhance overall academic performance.
In response to this memorandum, Pitogo Community High School participated on the first day of implementation held on September 22, 2025, under the supervision of the School Principal, Mr. Clinton Jay C. Medina. A total of 16 tutors facilitated the sessions, with learners who were organized into 5 ARAL-Reading Basic Classes and 11 ARAL-Reading Plus Classes.
On Day 1, learners actively participated in the reading activities, demonstrating eagerness and cooperation throughout the session. Teaching and learning resources such as Workbooks for learners and Teaching Guides for tutors were made available to ensure smooth facilitation of the program. The activities focused on assessing learners’ reading proficiency through vocabulary drills, guided reading, and comprehension exercises.
The opening of the ARAL Reading Program at Pitogo Community High School was successfully carried out. The collaborative effort of the tutors, learners, and the school administration provided meaningful insights into the current reading levels of the learners and laid the groundwork for targeted interventions in the succeeding sessions. The program is expected to sustain learner engagement and gradually improve reading fluency, comprehension, and overall literacy skills.
