PCHS Enhances Preparedness with School-Level Writeshop on CP

Pitogo Community High School (PCHS) hosted a School-Level Writeshop on Contingency Planning (CP) on November 11, 2024, to enhance the school's preparedness and resilience in the face of emergencies.

The event, held in the school’s conference room, gathered the contingency planning team to discuss strategies for ensuring the continuity of education and safety during unforeseen disruptions.

Mr. Clinton Jay C. Medina, school principal I, led the writeshop, drawing on his extensive experience in school administration and crisis management. He highlighted the importance of contingency planning, guiding participants through fundamental concepts such as Risk Identification, Emergency Response, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery. He emphasized the need for clear, structured strategies to respond effectively in times of crisis.

Medina also introduced key terms and acronyms related to contingency planning, ensuring participants shared a unified understanding of the essential components. He then facilitated discussions on formulating response strategies, focusing on risk assessment, defining roles and responsibilities, and establishing communication plans.

Participants also contributed significantly to the writeshop's success. Mr. Mar Z. Holanda, Teacher III addressed the mitigation phase, emphasizing the importance of preventive strategies to reduce risks before they occur. He guided participants in identifying potential vulnerabilities within the school and implementing measures to minimize disruptions.

Following this, Mrs. Elizabeth E. Ecaro, Teacher II led the preparedness segment, stressing the significance of proactive approaches such as resource planning, and staff training. She also discussed regular drills to ensure the school is ready for emergencies.

Mr. Mark Anthony R. Rosas, ADAS II took the group through the response phase, focusing on the immediate actions needed during a crisis. He highlighted the importance of clear communication, quick decision-making, and effective coordination to protect the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Mrs. Mary Ann I. Mosende, Teacher II, and Carlamae M. de Leon, ADAS II led the discussion on rehabilitation and recovery.  They addressed how the school can recover and restore normal operations after an emergency, focusing on mental health support, rebuilding infrastructure, and resuming educational activities as quickly as possible.

The writeshop also reviews and updates the school’s existing contingency planning documents. Participants worked together to refine these forms, improving clarity and usability. Updates included adding essential contact information and ensuring the forms adequately addressed the needs of students and staff.

The CP Team is looking forward to strengthening PCHS’s emergency preparedness. With a comprehensive approach to risk mitigation, emergency response, and recovery, the school is now better equipped to handle potential crises and safeguard the well-being of its community. #
