Celebration of Pitogo Community High School in National Reading Month 2023

In celebration of National Reading Month 2023, Pitogo Community High School (PCHS) successfully conducted various programs and activities in accordance with the theme "Pagbasa: Pag-asa para sa Matatag na Kinabukasan"

The program commenced on November 5, 2023, with a lively opening ceremony led by Ms. Diosa P. Olase, PCHS Reading Coordinator, and PCHS Filipino and English teachers.

In addition to the orientation about the upcoming school celebration for Reading Month, Ms. Olase also read a story to the students, underscoring the significance of reading.

Students from grades seven and eight participated in contests such as poster-making, while students from grades nine and ten created comic strips. Simultaneously, students from grades 11 and 12 showcased their oratorical skills in a conventional speech choir.

The classes also conducted simultaneous reading sessions prior to the culmination of the program.

The culminating activity occurred on November 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the PCHS Junior High School Department, where certificates and prizes were awarded to the deserving winners.

Mrs. Rosario M. Bulfa, Officer-in-Charge, delivered a meaningful message to the students, emphasizing the importance of cultivating the habit of reading. She encouraged them to delve into the world of knowledge through the stories found in books.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mar Z. Holanda, a language teacher, reminded everyone that despite living in the age of technology, reading should not be neglected. He expressed that reading has the power to transport individuals to places they wish to go through the imagination fueled by books.

In his concluding statements, he underscored the idea that students should embark on a journey not just by boarding a ship but by traveling through the pages of a book.

"Lakbay hindi sakay ng barko kundi lakbay sakay ng libro," said Mr. Holanda.

The event not only celebrated the joy of reading but also instilled the significance of literature in shaping the minds of the youth for a brighter future. #
